thoughts

An event this past week has effected members of my family greatly. It has reminded me to be more kind because everyone has their own demons and their own tragedies, some just keep them locked in their own thoughts. They won't let anyone in to unlock them, they have already stored them too deep. Sometimes I wish my husband could just read my thoughts, our terrific relationship would be even better if he would just read my mind. At times though, I'm very glad he can't read my mind, Strange thoughts occur in everyones brain, but here are some funny thoughts that always make me happy. Some are too hard to explain, but certain people will understand them.
-My brother got into the boat from skiing and realized he had left his wallet in his swim shorts. Luckily it didn't fall out, especially when he realized it was dad's wallet.
-The whole...enchilada
-Crap for Brains
-"I only sit by people I don't like" (they were sitting next to me, hum!)
-"Hey, maybe you should ask them for the senior citizen menu"
-Having milk shakes with our friends during blackberry season and we all had purple teeth and lots of berry remains stuck between our teeth. Very attractive.
-Trying to have family prayer with my parents but we couldn't get through it because we were laughing too hard.
-Hiding in the lake at night and scaring some of the girls at camp.
-Watching one of our "dignified" friends do a modern dance for us.
-Watching a deleted scene of a movie with my husband and laughing until we were sore. We laughed for an hour. We would finally both get calm and then one of us would think of the scene again and start laughing. We both still laugh out loud when we think of it.

buddies

Tonight my dad and my husband had professional pictures taken for their office. After business comes play. Her Granddad grabbed her so they could have some pictures together. They were all adorable pictures, after all, they are buddies. She is a lucky little girl to have so many people who adore her. He has some pretty funny nicknames for her, but they aren't real words...more like a combination of words which would be too hard to write. If we ever need someone to entertain her, he's always willing and she's always thrilled.

her isms

Every child has their "isms", here are some of hers.
She doesn't mind going swimming with us as long as she is cuddled up close.
She loves having a blanket, any blanket will do. She pulls them up to her face for comfort.
She expects people to look at her, if they aren't, she makes a cute little noise until they do.
Once they look at her, she always gives them a huge smile back.
She bits on her thumb with her back gums when she gets excited.
She pays close attention when you sing the ABC's (most of the time.)
She loves to stand and looks so triumphant when she's managed to crawl up us to standing.
She's just as interested in the spoon as she is the rice cereal.
She loves to be thrown up in the air or be held up high.
Being up-side-down is a wonderful game.
If it can fit in her mouth, that's where it goes. If it can't, she at least tries to get it there.
When she's being held so her legs dangle she kicks them up and down.
She loves to sleep on her belly.
When she gets sleepy she sucks on her bottom lip and tucks her face down to her left forearm.
She doesn't "talk" very often, but when she does it's hilarious.
She doesn't laugh very often, but when she does it's priceless.

irresistible

I couldn't choose, there were too many irresistible pictures. She is even sitting! One of my favorite things is the flower. She puts everything in her mouth so naturally the flower went there too. One taste and she was done. She really didn't want much to do with the flower after that . "If it doesn't taste good, it's not worth my time." Too bad my finger and hair taste so good. She LOVES to bite on our fingers with her sharp little tooth and she LOVES to grab onto our hair and get it in her mouth. One of the only things that makes her laugh is to rub our head on her belly. I think it's because she delighted there is so much hair to pull and suck on.

daddy's home

Who wouldn't want to come home when they are greeted like this?
While I was trying to take some pictures of her, her dad came home. I knew he would get a great response from her so I had her dad hide while I positioned her. When she was positioned, he walked around the corner and said her name. As soon as she saw him, she lit up with pure delight. For me, seeing her sparkle like this, is one of the best things about being a mom.

crawling

Here she comes for the camera
she looks more like a seal than a worm

She is officially fast and efficient at crawling, unless she is upset, then she just rolls around and throw a fit. She still has her great little worm technique, but it works.... really well. It's hard to get sitting pictures of her because once she sees the camera, that is where she is headed. She used to be slow enough that I could still get some easy shots, but not any more. A sitting shot is rare. Today while I was fixing my lunch I set her in the middle of the counter and worked as fast as I could before she got to me. Well, not fast enough. Before I knew it she had both hands in my food, as I was getting one hand out she had a handful of noodles and tomatoes with the other hand putting them in her mouth. She is lightening quick and oh so cute!

essential nutrients

We can now add a few more items to the list of things our baby has eaten, avocado (she loved it) and...paper. To be specific, a yellow Starburst wrapper. Oh so yummy! I wonder how many nutrients her body took from it as it passed through her tiny intestines? I am sure it's only the first of many wonderful things I am going to spy in her diaper.
She is also migrating. She has been migrating for about 4 weeks but now she is migrating quicker and hopefully a cross-lateral crawl will soon develop. She loves to migrate over to us while we are laying on the floor and then climb up us so she can stand. Hopefully she gets the hang of crawling before she gets the hang of balancing. If she continues with her growth pattern by the time she is walking she will probably weigh around 15 lbs and look like a walking 3 month old. She is TRIM and tall, just like her mom. I'm just happy that she is healthy and delightful!

One Crazy Family

This is from his family reunion this last weekend (minus one of his brothers). Taking a family picture and getting everyone to look great is a challenge, but I think we accomplished it with this picture (I think my handsome husband is dancing). We had a wonderful time hanging out with his family. The grandkids had a great time playing with each other and entertaining our baby. She was thrilled to have so much constant attention and love. While on this little vacation she hit her seven month mark and started cutting her first tooth. She doesn't even seem too crabby except for one of the nights when she threw a FIT. Her dad ended up taking her out to the car so she wouldn't wake up the other 15 people in the house. Our small Subaru wasn't made to sleep a 6'4" man, but after a few naps the next day, he survived.

Soaring

Last week we went soaring in a glider (not to be confused with hang-gliding). We can now cross this off our list of "things to do before we die." A friend invited to take us and we jumped on the opportunity. During my turn, we soared over mountains, lakes, valleys, rivers and even got into the clouds. It was breathtaking and so peaceful. I would have enjoyed the clouds more, but we were at 9,000 feet and I was getting light headed and a bit dizzy. Luckily I didn't get too sick to my stomach. Well, that wasn't the case with my handsome husband. He got sick. When they got back he was shaky and a light shade of green. His trip wasn't nearly as exciting as mine, but he is still glad he got the chance. If you ever get the chance, it's wonderful, just bring a barf bag.

Peas and other veggies

Her first food, well kind of. Organic peas from Safeway. At first she was very interested and then when the taste registered, she was more interested in the spoon. After smelling the contents of the jar, I think I would have done the same and I like vegetables (sometimes). Since then she's sucked on a carrot, lettuce leaf, celery, and last night her dad let her suck on a snap pea. She LOVED it! but then she did lots of chocking. Probably not the best thing, but it was really cute. One time when while out to eat her dad was taking a drink and she pulled the lemon off his cup and stuck the peal in her mouth with lightening speed. We then turned it around and let her lick the lemon, oh the faces. They weren't too different from the ones she made this past Sunday during dinner when Sweetheart let her suck on a pickle.

Memorial Weekend

Her first bathing suit! Such a silly thing for a baby, but too cute to pass up. Her dad picked it out for her, so it makes it even cuter.
We spent most of the weekend on the houseboat. Her dad took her in the lake, but it was too cold so we stuck her in a bucket we had filled with water and left in the sun. She loved it. She kept trying to drink the water and enjoyed sucking on the edges of the bucket. I am thrilled I finally got a picture of her sticking out her tongue. She's a little snake and loves to entertain herself with it. She doesn't do it as much as she use to, so I'm just glad the camera was ready.
