She has a blast with these bowls. I love to watch her play with them because some of them are bigger than her. Yesterday, she learned to fake cough. Am I in for it now?Wednesday, September 26, 2007

burguandy baby
When I change her diaper it's nice (for me) to give her something to play with so she doesn't fuss or try to roll away. Lately, a (clean) diaper has been doing the trick. She loves to rub it against her face or just hold it close. Hopefully, she will always be entertained by the simple things.

food glorious food
Maybe it's my obsession with food or that she's just so dang cute when she eating. Top left, she's just finished eating an array of fruits and she is a MESS. She is shiney because she is covered in fruit, but she's classy (she has on her pearls). Top right, frozen rasberries, yum and horribly messy. Bottom left, obvious, but she loves them. She really eats them like this. Bottom right, her first piece of bread and she was all over it. She's not too picky about her bread, but she LOVES Great Harvest breads. More flavor, the better. She is very petite for her age so we are on a mission to fatten her up (don't you wish that could be one of your goals?) We feed her frequently and give her foods with lots of fat. We gave her almond butter on bread this weekend and she was hilarious eating it, it was like giving a dog peanut butter

FINALLY!

The simplest and silliest things excite me. I bought this outfit when she was an infant intending it to be worn during the spring and early summer. I have looked forward to putting her in the whole outfit and was a little disappointed when 6 months went by and she was still much too small to wear the onsie. Every once in a while I'd pull it out and measure it against the onsies she was wearing only to see it was much too big. Spring and summer have come and gone, fall is finally here and now she can finally wear it. It's still a little too big, but that's great, more time for her to wear it during the fall and winter. I took lots of pictures of her the first day she wore it (obviously) and I am sure this won't be the last time you see the outfit on her.

a day in the life
l lounge in my stroller while mom goes for a walk around the block,
I go to my toy basket to fetch my piano and sometimes I get it facing the right direction so I can bang on it loud and long, (she picked this toy herself)
patty cake is my favorite game and I play it at least 20 times a day,
there are lots of trash cans in our house, but I love the trash can by my mom's side of the bed. When ever I go into her room, I go directly to it and then pull out the contents one by one.
I love to eat what my parents are eating especially if it's a carb! Friday, September 14, 2007
incriminating evidence
New developments for our babe...
She's getting more hair. It's very uneven, but at least she's getting some.
She's cutting a top tooth.
She's gained LOTS of weight!

Happy Birthday
HAPPY 31st to someone incredible! Thankfully our moms (sisters) had babies 5 months apart. Girls, finally, at the tail end of 7 boys.
I had an instant playmate. Someone always there to build tree forts, go swimming, explore the wilderness, get ice cream at Thrifty's, jump out the gym window, dress up the dogs, get into our mom's makeup, and lots of other adventures. She is beautiful, intelligent, amazingly athletic, spiritual, excells at everything she does, and is a very pregnant woman. If my daughter ends up half a talented as my cousin is, I will be thrilled. (notice her shoes)

boy in blue

She's bald, she wears blue, people think she's a boy and I don't even care. I figure she would be a cute boy too! Today she had a great time outside on my parents front deck. I wanted good light and she wanted to explore. It was a good compromise. If you click on the picture you can see more detail, like the slobber running off her chin and her diry feet.
She's also full of new tricks.
She has been standing unassisted for several seconds.
She is obsessed with patty cake.
While I was in the other room today, she said, "ba ba" (ma ma) "where are you?" I laughed out loud because it sounded so much like it. Even the inflection was right.

10 months
10 things I love about being her mom
1. sneaking in to watch her sleep. She's usually in a position no adult would dream of being in, let alone sleep in.
2. the way she grabs for her favorite blankets and then cuddles with them by holding them close to her mouth. If there is a yarn tie on the blanket she will rub it softly against her lips.
3. watching her crawl down the stairs (head first, but she makes it). We also have to keep her from falling off the couch and the bed going head first, she just dives right off.
4. seeing a smile creep up in her eyes and her lips, she sometimes tries to suppress them, but it never works.
5. watching play in the shower. She loves the water and will sit under the shower spray and enjoy trying to lick the water dripping off her lips.
6. seeing her light up and arms wave spasticly when she sees someone she knows.
7. cuddling with her. She wraps her arms around our neck and holds on tight.
8. when we feed her something she doesn't like she will barely open her mouth and push the food out with her tongue. She looks like a human soft serve ice cream machine.
9. listening to her talk to herself when she's alone. When we put her down for a nap sometimes she will just blabber on for minutes, enjoying listening to herself talk.
10. realizing everyday how lucky we are to have her on loan from our Heavenly Father.

culinary delight

Yesterday she ate poo! Yes, you read that right, poo. I was calm enough to think "maybe I should grab the camera," but then quickly realized "that's gross, no way!" I will save you from the details, but I just wanted to remind everyone that blowouts do happen. On to better things....She is aquiring new talents. She loves the guitar. Our theory that baby toys are frequently a waste of money has proved correct for us. She is so good at finding things to entertain herself with (which is a HUGE for her). She goes nuts any time she sees the ladder (which is often because I can barely reach the microwave in this house). She can climb up several steps but, that makes me nervous so I stop her before she gets that far. When she is one step up, at least she can get down by herself.

sticky oatmeal
I love to get her out of her crib after a nice long nap and see the dried oatmeal eaten 2 hours earlier stuck all over her face. She has a new trick! She rasberrries while she's eating cereal, carrots, anything wet. Her dad loves it when he's all ready for church in his white shirt. She also LOVES to stick her fingers in her mouth and play with her food after we've fed her a nice big bite of cereal. That's my personal favorite!
