cinderella II

Our little Cinderella is adding more to her chore list. She pushed the vacuum around the kitchen and laundry room for at least 10 minutes. I love how she held the cord with her free hand. She was very upset when her dad took the vacuum away from her. So, to keep her happy, we took turns holding her while we vacuumed the rest of the house.

popper

The sound can be a little annoying (maybe that's why my sister-in-law had our babe take it), but she loves it. Our babe will drag that thing everywhere; upstairs, downstairs, upside down. As of now it's her newest obsession.

For a long time she didn't want ANYTHING on her head. Now, she will keep her hood on her head, for a little bit. She was also the one who chose to put the rubber band on her head.

Notice the shoes. How can I pass up $5 shoes? An orange pair and a pink pair!

all things baby

I have lots of fun things to post from this weekend but, this is what I've been doing lately. Baby cakes and baby announcements! Thanks to Shonda, I have super cute pictures to put in the baby announcements. I made my first cake when our baby was born and have made several since then. They are so fun and EASY! A craft I can do.

dune buggie

At first she was content to ride on her dad's lap, but then she insisted that she have her own seat. The seat belts do go small enough and the dad goes slow enough. Tuesday she took Granddad's hand, lead him downstairs, and outside to the dune buggie. She's hooked. It's a fun way to pass the time. The bottom picture was taken amid a wink. She learned how to do it on Mother's day and made sure everyone in the room got their own personal wink from her. Her dad taught her to open her mouth real wide when she does it, so most of the time it's a pretty funny little face.

HOT

It's been HOT here. The best way for us to spend our day is out on the deck enjoying the cool water and watching our little girl entertain herself. I think many summer days will be spent doing this exact thing! Oh, she went swimming last Saturday and did terrific. She's a real water baby.

hug your kids

There is a family whos 23 month old daughter, Lucy, chocked on an apple and is now in a coma. Things don't look too promising. I am sure her parents would appreciate it if you added Lucy to your prayers. Last night, I cuddled with my babe a little bit longer and played with her a little bit more this morning. Hearing about this has really helped me put things back into perspective. So, I'm going to be a little more patient and give her even more kisses. Life is obviously too unpredictable.

mom's makeup

Besides the big kiss mark the other big red marks aren't scratches, they are makeup. She watches so carefully and then wants to do everything I do. I didn't use to have a problem with her playing in my makeup drawer, but now that she can get the lid of the lipstick, I need to be more careful. Yesterday she ate the tip off of some pencil shadow, yum!

strawberries and telephones

Getting her to sit still for a picture is next to impossible. Most of the time, the pictures I end up with have blurry hands or she's pointing to the camera. I figured some strawberries and her cell phone would keep her entertained. I wonder how she developed such a love of the phone, no, it's more like a passion. Usually, babies learn these things from watching their moms, but I avoid using the phone as much as possible. I rarely have a phone conversation longer than a minute. She spends so much time on the phone I wonder if she's going to develop some sort of brain cancer. One of my favorite things about these pictures is her messy onsie. Thank heavens for Oxy Clean.

breakfast

She eats more breakfast than most adults. Two eggs, a bowl of cereal and a bowl of applesauce is what she ate this morning. Sometimes she invites friends to eat breakfast with her. On this day she invited her purse and her bunny. I coax them away when I pour her cereal.

red hands and cats

We went to the gym last week on a guest pass. I've been trying to decide if I want to join the gym. One of the perks is their fantastic daycare. They play with the kids and do fun activities. When I went to get her I found her hands looked like this! Now I wonder how well they really watch the kids. I washed them when we go home, but the red stayed. I figured it would wash off sooner or later so I took her outside to take some pictures of them. It's so hard to get her to pose, actually it's impossible. While I struggled to get a few red hand pictures she was enthralled with the neighbor's cat.

mother's day

I love being a mother. Honestly, I haven't thought that everyday for the past 18 months, but most of them. Once you're a mother, it seems your part of an entire "mother" brain wave. I have loved watching mothers. Of course, I am particular to my mother because she's mine (and because she is incredible) but I've learned so much from so many moms. My husband's mother is amazing. She's so organized, service oriented and adores her kids and grand kids. My husband is wonderful, so of course she had a great mother. I think one of the best parts about being a mom is that it's perfectly legal, as a mother, to think your child is one of the cutest, adorable, smartest, and most wonderful kids that had ever lived.

18 months

I can hardley believe it. How does time go by so fast? Everyday there is something new with her.

She says new little words almost daily (many of them are still hard to understand).
She loves to pray. Many times we stop what we are doing because she wants to pray.
She makes lots of animal noises and loves the neighborhood cats and dogs.
She'd eat a whole large container of applesause if we let her.
She loves to sing the popcorn song.
She loves to eat popcorn.
She loves to be chased around the house.
She's great about cleaning up her messes and wiping up her spills.
She loves to be tickled.
She goes nuts for phones and watches.
She's our true delight!

oh no

Oh no! I forgot! I had so many fun things planned for my blog's first birthday and I goofed. I am an entire week late. Following in the footsteps of many other bloggers, I was going to have a HUGE giveaway to celebrate. You are just going to have to wait until the next special occasion. Well, I guess we could still do it. To be eligible you need to leave me a 500 word essay on why you deserve to win either my.......brand new spider vein on my right calf or a really ugly apple bowl set that I got for my wedding (the giver probably got it for their wedding and re gifted it). Entries are due by this time tomorrow. Good Luck!

favorite family activity

Whoever said this quad was built for one? There is no reason to take turns when everyone in the family (plus a little girl in red) can ride at the same time.

blue plaid

Cute girls wearing cute dresses always need to be documented. For the past few days She has been super funny and giggly. She loves to be chased around. Getting her to stand still for a few pictures is kind of tricky so we used a few devices. Water. She loves water. So, I got some cute pictures, not the kind of picture I was originally going for, but still cute. We have a possessed hose, so when her dad turned it off, it sprayed both of them. Since her dress was wet, I decided to just take some pictures of her playing, that's when she's the cutest anyway. One picture she's waiting for me to throw a ball (kind of hard to do two things at once) and another picture she's waving to the dog next door. She LOVES to wave to anybody, everybody, and everything else.

a new chapter

Yesterday was her first Sunday in nursery by herself. Technically, it was one Sunday early, but they said it was ok. She did great! I am sure it helps that her cousin is in there with her.

I just finished a semester at BYU and moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to work for the summer.

My husband was finishing his final year of school. I was packing, and cleaning our apartment rehearsing for a tap concert, teaching my last few dance classes and exercise classes, going to lots of farewell parties.

Getting ready for Christmas! Decorating! Scanning and organizing pictures of my family for a Christmas present. Enjoying our babes new walking skills.

5 things on my to do list this week.
Practice the piano. Look over a talk I'm giving this week. Order food storage. Go visiting with my husband. Floss my teeth.

5 Bad Habits.
Picking at my chronically itchy ears (it's hereditary). Procrastinating. Neglecting everything and reading constantly until I finish a good book. Calling myself an idiot. Holding onto disappointments.

5 Places I've lived.
Utah, Idaho, Wisconsin, Alaska, Oregon

5 Snacks I enjoy.
Applesauce with pretzels. Sweet breads (like banana bread) with orange juice. Almonds with dried blueberries. Any fruit. Dark chocolate.

5 Things I'd do if I became a billionaire. Tithing is obvious.
Pay off all our loans. Pay off our family's loans. Hire someone to clean my floors and my toilets. Go on a service mission. Anonymously pay for missions and educations.

5 Things people don't know about me.
When I was 8, I practiced for hours a day on a rope swing with a disc attached hoping to qualify for the Olympics (they never made it an event). I have many mini obsessions.
I was the school treasurer when I was in 5th grade (I forgot about it until I saw a picture a few weeks ago). I had an extra tooth surgically removed from my hard palate. I rarely listen to the radio/music in the car.

smoothie season

It's one of my favorite things about this time of year, SMOOTHIES. Sometimes that's all I want for dinner. Add some almonds (for protein), carrots, spinach, and lots of frozen and fresh fruit. I learned you can add a whole kiwi, but you have to blend it REALLY well to get rid of the fuzzies. Even apples can be added whole. Just don't add bananas without peeling them.
