My girls loved their back to school boxes. I covered the cereal boxes Monday night and on Tuesday morning both girls grabbed their box and played with it all morning. They took them down to Sweethearts house and filled them with dog bones, leaves, flowers and a lot of other goodies. In the afternoon each girl decorated her own box. It didn't take long for Gumdrop to start painting on herself. She started painting her nose and then they painted their hands to put hand prints on their box. Sweetpea kept rubbing her nose and every time she did, she got more and more green on her face.That evening each girl hung her box on the handle of her bedroom door.

This is my two year old tease. She knows she's not supposed to have her shoes on the carpet, so she took off her right shoe and stepped on the carpet barefoot. Then she watched me with a sneaky grin on her face as she got closer and closer to putting her left shoe on the carpet. One time she was told not to touch something again and she walked right over to it and poked it as she said "touch, touch, touch, touch, touch." She must have spent a lot of time in Heaven perfecting her teasing skills (probably observing and taking notes on my brothers) because she's a pro.

back to school

I saw this idea in a parenting magazine a few years ago and thought it would be a fun tradition. It's a cone filled with school supplies. But, since we already bought all the school supplies and gave them to Sweetpea's teacher, I'm going to tweak it. I bought some fun activity books, paints, and pens that I wouldn't normally splurge on. Tomorrow we are going to decorate cereal boxes and hang them on the girl's bedroom door before they go to bed. When they wake up in the morning, the cereal boxes will be filled with the new supplies. Pretty fun. I bought some great dry erase books and really wanted to buy some of these

but I didn't want to pay $4 for crayons that Gumdrop is just going to eat anyway, so I bought washable dry erase pens. She might eat those, too. She will probably color all over the table, her body, and a few walls, but at least they are washable.

Gumdrop

Here is my funny little Gumdrop. This girlie is AMAZING! Oh, the stories I could tell. I am so glad that I have been writing in my journal almost every night for nearly a year. My days and experiences with her are priceless.
This weekend we helped some of our family move. Turkeys! But, Gumdrop was such a great helper. I was so excited because the lighting was so phenomenal in the storage shed, but of course getting her to look at me is nearly impossible and my camera phone doesn't have the fastest response.
Gumdrop is now 2 1/2. She talks a lot and everyday says something new. She likes to say boobies and poop though...during church. She dresses herself most of the time. She...is hard to put into words.
Today when she woke from her nap, she asked for Sweetpea. When we found her, Gumdrop's face lite up and she crawled down from my arms to be with Sweetpea then tried to rub her feet, which Sweetpea didn't like at all. Gumdrop needs constant supervision, but has the BIGGEST heart. I sure love this girl.

Museum

Gumdrop found a new friend at the museum. Sweetpea made oregami and the kids ran around like wild animals and looked at bear poop.

Cousins

A few weeks ago while many of the Dads in our extended family went on the 50 miler, we spent the week playing with cousins. Actually it was my cousin, her kids and my cousin-in-law and her kids, and my kids. But that's kind of confusing so we just call everyone cousins. We spent the week swimming, going to a museum, had a cookie tasting party, shopping, going to the park, playing in the yard, going out to dinner...it was a great week. The other mom's even took Sweatpea on a few adventures while I took Gumdrop home for a much needed nap.

Mischief

Turn your back for 2 minutes and she finds something fun and greasy and messy. I was even in the same room working on the computer. She found the grease from the elliptical and smeared it all over the ramp. She was so pleased with her art work. I was so pleased that I had oil eater handy and it cleaned off the machine and her hands and the bathtub.

Messy Face

Cotton Candy ice cream, yum! My hubby was out of town for a week and left money for the girls and me to get ice cream. Gumdrop loved hers. She drank it out of the cup and dripped it down her shirt to her skirt to her legs, onto her toes, shtvoes and then the floor. She also disappeared twice and I found her both times in the bathroom getting soap and rubbing it all over her hands. Isn't that face irresistible?

School Supplies

I can't believe it's time to send my Sweetpea off to school. We had to take two trips to the store for school supplies. On our first excursion, I decided to be a fun mom and take that hideously long and horrible shopping cart with the seat extensions. That thing is STUPID! That trip ended up being cut short because Gumdrop...took the entire lid off the sparkle Elmer's glue, ripped open the pen package and used the black pen to color all over a new folder, grabbed several things off the shelves and threw them in the basket, sat on the edge of the cart and refused to get off, so I buckled her...again, got out and pushed the cart down the isle causing Sweetpea to almost tumble out of the cart. It was so fun. Instead of bawl like a baby, I decided to laugh. But, inside all I wanted to do was cry...so I bought a Twix. Wow, it seems like I don't watch my kids, but I do. I promise. She is so fast. You turn your back on that little thing for 2 seconds and she's gotten into something else. Amazing!
