cure for sick babies

A couple of weeks ago, when she had a really bad cough, I thought sitting in the hot tube might make her feel better. I was a little concerned it would be too hot for her. Too hot for her? It was too hot for ME! She would have stayed in the entire day, but I was melting. After hot tubing, granddad pulled her around the gym on the dolly. What a life!

Have I told you she's stepping? Not quite walking, but she takes several steps here and there. I don't think she see's the point in walking, so whenever she decides it time, she'll do it.

I'm Thankful....

I have a wonderful husband whose also an exeptional father
we live so close to lots of family
I know Heavenly Father answers prayers
it's Sunday afternoon (Saturday is over)
it's the Christmas season
I have a nice camera to capture precious moments
I have some time to myself
my shoes are off
there are still Thanksgiving leftovers to enjoy

Last Friday we went up into the mountains with my brother's in-laws and cut our Christmas tree. We bundled up the babies, tromped through hundreds of trees and sticker bushes and after hours of carefully inspecting each tree we got fed up and my niece picked one out for us. It's small, perfectly proportioned and will be easy to decorate. After that, we ate hot dogs, drank hot chocolate, and froze our buns off when the wind blew. Notice in the bottom picture my brother and wife looking at something. While I was taking this family picture their baby, who was already warm in his car seat, was projectile vomiting all over my brother's truck. These are what memories are made of.

one year ago

Our friends came to visit one year ago this weekend so they could see our new baby and so Shonda could take some BEAUTIFUL pictures. If anyone travels or lives 8 hours north of me. Look her up. She's worth the trip (now I need to take my own advice.)

I made her an apple-banana muffin cake with applesauce/cereal frosting (it even sounds gross to me now.) She was mesmerized by the candles and loved the singing. She was disgusted by the frosting as soon as she touched it and instantly started to dry heave. Another touch triggered her gag reflexes again. After several dry heaves, she finally threw up.

After she was cleaned up, she enjoyed some of her new presents and ate an apple-banana muffin (without the frosting).

it's my birth day too! This was the first time I got to give her a kiss.

Just minutes after she was born, while they were waiting for the incubator to warm, they had her dad cuddle with her under his shirt to warm her up. I am so glad someone had enough sense to take a pictures.

Poor little girl has been sick for over a week now. She has been great, but there is little sparkle in her eyes. She is so content to have her nose wiped and she smirks when we rub vicks on her feet. Hopefully tomorrow she feels a whole lot better. I'm just glad I got a picture of her blowing a snot bubble. I now consider that my photography masterpiece!
So...still in labor. My water broke at 6:00 pm 365 days ago. WEIRD experience and I'm sure you all really wanted to know that! My husband was incredible during the whole labor and delivery thing. He has always been a terrific husband, but I think the whole event made him even better!

a work in progress

I have been SLOWLY putting together her baby book. I am not sure I will ever finish because I keep changing things. Here is a page I did today. I figure if I can do one page a month, I'll have it done by....never! I also found a great designer today at Designer Digital (now I can't remember her name). She has great papers, stamps and grungy frames.
A year ago today I was...still in labor. I am a huge fan of Hypnobirth. It was really useful during the days leading up to her delivery.

count down

I've started a count down to her birthday because exactly one year ago today (the 6th) I started into labor. As I write this I can hear her fighting off sleep as she talks to herself and bangs on the wall. Funny girl. Anyway, right after our baby was born my mom went into the waiting room and asked this niece what she would like the baby to be. "A girl." My mom said her whole face lit up when she told her the baby was, in fact, a girl. Out of 9 couples in our families 5 have had a girl first and a boy second!
