painted nails

We went to visit my mom while she was having her nails done. Naturally this cutie wanted her nails done too. I let her pick her color. Her first pick was atrocious, so I showed her a few more options and thankfully she chose a prettier color. She was a little disappointed when the nail polish started to chip off, but assured us that Kathy could paint them again sometime. In the first picture, the little booger is hiding her hands so I can't get a picture of her nails.

classic car

My uncle owns this really great classic car and brings it out once in a while to take it for a little spin. This time my husband and babe were lucky enough to go with him and sit in the rumble seat (according to my hubby, there were a few spiders back there, too.)
P.S. Thanks you, thank you, thank you for your opinion on my book cover. I think I'm going to have to go with #1.

feedback

1. 2.
3.

I'm trying to design the cover for my next blog book. For my first blog book's cover I used the the header picture I have on my blog, so I designed this next books cover to correlate. Number 1 and 2 are obviously similar but the design behind chat's family is a little different. I can't decide which one I like the best. I'm leaning toward #1 or #2 because of her dress, it was her favorite, but I love #3 also.
Do you have a favorite?
By the way, blurb 2.0 is so much better! If you haven't loaded it yet, it's a little slower, but you are able to design the page layouts. I wish it would have been like that when I first started, it would have saved so much time!

black thumb

My green thumb is usually more black than green. If I keep a plant alive it's out of pure persistence from the plant and not me. In 2006 for Mother's Day my in-laws gave me a beautiful lily. It lived for a short time and then keeled over. I put it outside in it's pot and forgot about it for several months. One day while cleaning up the yard, I dumped the plant into a huge pile of dirt. The next year while someone was helping me with my yard, he found the plant blooming in the pile of dirt. I stuck it in a wine barrel. Last year it grew, but never bloomed. This year is BLOOMED. I didn't kill it! My wine barrel has ended up being a collection of plants that I have no idea what to do with. I plant them in there hoping they might bloom. Right now there is another flower pushing up next to the daisies and I have no idea what kind of flower it will be.

my girl part II

Last night she asked, "Mom, why do you have a beard?"
(Leave it to a 2 year old)

my girl

Things I hear her say everyday... several times a day
Why?
(I am now trying to get her to ask why in full sentences)
Don't mess up my hair.
(What? You're two and you're going to bed, who cares?)
Would you like some blease or bleasa?
(Some of her favorite made up words, usually they refer to pretend food)
Can I wear a dress?
(it's so fun to see her out riding her scooter with a dress on)
Mom, why don't we hit?
(because it's mean)
because I love it
(this it her answer to almost everything, Why are you picking your nose?)

Funny things she has said lately...
She went to Great Harvest with Sweetheart and Granddad and got a sample of Cinnamon Swirl. A little bit later she asked them where her squirrel was.

While Granddad ran into a store, our babe and Sweetheart waited for Granddad in the car. Our babe was entertaining herself by measuring the seats in the truck. "Um, this seat is big and a half." She later measured herself as little and a half.

She was sitting with her dad while he was reading the scriptures. When she saw the picture of Samuel the Lamenite she pointed and asked, "Why is he wearing a dancing dress?"

Early one morning she was having dirty smoothies with Granddad. She looked at her cup, thought a little bit and then asked, "does this make poops or peeps?"

When playing catch with granddad, he'd throw her the ball and when she missed she'd tell him "that wasn't a good throw," and give the ball back so her could try again.

Jer took her outside to play on the playground while the rest of us sat though a boring neighborhood watch meeting at the red church. While they were playing some girls came and asked her if she wanted to play duck, duck, goose. Thrilled that she learned a new game she later asked us in the car on the way home "Did those girls ask me if I wanted to play Juice and Java?"

Sometimes get gets a sore bottom, the other night she asked us if we would "put gasoline on my bottom."

She loves to play the flute (a kalidoscope), the guitar, and the air violin.

She loves to make up names like Sally Sally Sue, Sulsa, Spelso, and Pleasa.

During FHE Jer told us that "our soul is our body and our spirit." Right after she started pulling down her pnats and saying, "I'm going to show you." Confused, dad asked "You are going to show me what?" By this time she had her pants all the way down and turned to show her dad her bottom, "my bottom," she replied. After a second of confusion Jer realized what it was, "No, our body" (not our bottom).

shoes, glorious shoes

In my attempt to organize I bought a large container to store all her outgrown shoes. I knew that she would go wild over a large box of shoes and make my sorting impossible, so I decided to do my sorting while she was taking her afternoon nap. I got antsy and thought she was occupied enough, so I snuck into her room while she was playing in the living room and started my project. She caught me! Her eyes got wide when she saw all those SHOES. My hopes of finishing my organizing were thwarted by her exuberance to try on every pair or shoes, even her tiny baby shoes. After three days of trying on shoes, I finally got a chance to collect them, put them back in the box, and store them.

monkey

My brother is a tease! He teases everyone so naturally he teases our babe with a silly nickname that she's not too fond of, Monkey Mell. For his birthday I decided to dress her up in her monkey towel with some banana's in honor of him. She wasn't 100% into my plan, but by the time we went to his party, she was game.

buddies

Her friends come in a variety of ages. Here she is with Bud and Gary, the guys from the paint store. Frequently when we run errands she asks if we can go by and see Bud and Gary. If we are in the vicinity, usually we stop so she can get a piece of candy and so they can tease her. Sometimes when she runs errands with Granddad, he takes her in. When I was pregnant we decided that I should name the baby Bugary. Some mom's take their kids to the playground or to the museum. I take mine to the paint store.
