smarter than mom

Did you know I have a hard time determining my right from my left? I've never been good at it, my dad's not good at it either. We might be driving in the car and I will tell him to turn left and he will turn right, the direction I wanted him to turn anyway. Works for us. One time I was on the right side of a bus and someone said to look out the windows on the right. I quickly looked out to the left and then saw everyone looking towards at me, oops. Well, this is one of my traits she didn't acquire. She knows her right from her left. Amazing. While taking these picture I asked her to raise the appropriate hand. I had to stop and second and think if she was correct. Of course she was, she's good at it. Much better than her directionally challenged mom.

halloween

Last week a giants squirrel waved at us, our babe cried with terror and almost had a heart attack when we suggested giving it a hug. I wonder what she's going to think of Halloween. Maybe I should dress up in something really crazy.

birthday ideas

Her birthday is coming soon and I've been thinking about what we should get her. I've concidered getting her a computer keyboard, an old calculator, a waste basket full of paper, a pen and a piece of scratch paper, a pair of my shoes, or some kitchen items...
like these...
or these....
I still can't find the green corn ends she was playing with. I'm sure I will find them right after I buy new ones.

stuff

*She really wanted to wear shorts to bed (it was too cold), so this was my compromise. It didn't last too long.
*Last week she wanted to go to Tacomida for dinner. (that's Taco Bell and La Comida)
*She wants to wear her blue polka dot dress every day.
*She has yet another stupid cold.

primary program

Our primary program turned out wonderful. The kids sang so well. When I got called to be the chorister, my main objective was for the kids to love to sing and to sing loud. They exceeded my expectations. I was blown away. I wish I could have watched the congregation's faces, especially when they sang "Called to Serve," the kids were impressive. We had the congregation join us on the second and third verse of "We Thank Thee, oh God, For a prophet." I directed the first verse sitting on a really low stool at the front of the stand (where the chorister usually stands). When I stood up to bring in the congregation the heels of my boots got stuck in the inside of my skirt. Typical of me, I had the hardest time not laughing. I kept trying to kick my feet to get my skirt free, but nothing was working. After singing half the song in a funny squat position (if I would have stood up straight, the back of my skirt would have slid down below my bottom) I finally was able to reach my hand down and free my boot heals. By this time, some of the woman in the primary were laughing, some of the members in the congregation were laughing and I had almost destroyed the Spirit. To make it worse, my sister-in-law was sitting near the front, in tears laughing at her little boy singing. He sang with such gusto and no words. Luckily, I was able to sit down and contain myself before I completely lost it. One of my favorite parts of the program was hearing my little girl sing along to "I am a Child of God." She was sitting three rows from the front and singing nice and loud. Just like I like it!

toddler bed

Yesterday, around 5 pm I drove past a closed yard sell and spotted this (the toddler bed, not the girl). I called my husband and asked him if he would be willing to knock on the door and buy it. When I came home and hour later he had done this! How Fun! I wasn't expecting him to set it up right them, but it was nice to have it done. I love the bumper around the edges. Not something I would not have thought about, but she needs them, she is a WILD sleeper and smashes her head into the bars. I think she loves it. She has a cold right now so I was afraid it wasn't a good time to transition, but so far, she's still in bed (I wonder if she's awake and feels the invisible force field we set up keeping her in). Now what do I do with all the stuff hiding under her crib?

primary program today! yipeee! I can't wait to hear them sing. I wish I could video it and show you how priceless my 4 year old nephew is when he sings.

christmas cards

I just found out I can do 5x6 Christmas cards with envelops for fantastic price (comparable to Costco). If you are interested email me or post a comment and we can discuss it.

I love this picture! Last year we went up to the mountains to cut Christmas trees with my sister-in-law's family. We had a blast until we were about to leave and they decided to get a group picture minus my nephew who was already strapped into his car seat. Right as I was clicking the camera we heard some peculiar noises. My brother's little boy was puking ALL OVER the back of their truck. Thankfully he wasn't sick, he had just eaten too many glazed donuts and hot dogs. Hence the two adults not looking at the camera.

book club

I get to pick the book this month for Book Club. I was going to pick The Wheels on the Bus by Raffi, but now I'm swaying towards The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Any other suggestions before I made my final decision? My friend just gave me At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon. It's a good, clean, easy read about a priest in a small town. My husband and I read The Last Lecture together while traveling last weekend and I'm still trying to trudge through persuasion (my shift-p doesn't work). I really enjoy it but one page takes me 10 minutes and then I have to go to Sparknotes.com to figure out what I just read. It might take me a couple of months, but I will finish it.

entertainment

This is what I do when mommy and daddy are not paying any attention to me because they are busy. Notice my toenails. I am sure someday I might find the pens and draw all over myself, but for now, these stickers will have to do. They laughed when they discovered what I had done and left the stickers on the floor for several days.

FHE activity

Last week her dad announced to our babe that we were going to paint her toe nails for the FHE activity. (Just wanted to point out that she is wearing her polka dot dress again)
First the toe nails needed to be filed... check out her cheesy grin
I love this picture
Dad did one foot, mom got the other
Now it's her turn to paint my toes and toe nails
Her dad picked the color of the evening
Wala! Have you ever seen better looking painted toes?
Notice that even in my pasty whiteness I do have a sandal tan.

23 months

My little girls who loves chocolate and her polka dot dress is almost 2, wow.
While taking pictures I kept asking her to look at me with her eyeballs (she was looking down or away from me). Instead, she closed her eyes tightly and made silly faces. I love this little girl.

christmas cards

Yesterday, I decided I would earn myself some extra cash for Christmas by selling photo Christmas cards. I did a few layouts showing how they could be changed. I thought about looking into pay pal to make the transaction easier for both parties. Then, I decided to see what my costs would be. Friends, if you want something cute and custom I can do it. If you want something cute and cheap go to COSTCO. They can't be beat! You get 50 cards for $15.00 with envelopes included. You can't even get 50 5x7 prints for $15.oo. That will cost $17.50, then add the cost of envelopes. Okay, you might be able to do 50 4x6 prints ($8.50) with envelopes for $15.00. If you found a really good deal on A-2 envelopes. So, if you want a cute custom one-of-a-kind Christmas card, let me know. If you want to save yourself some cash go to Costco (just remember they aren't one-of-a-kind, last year we got lots of Costco Christmas cards, 4 of them were the same design. Who cares, they were cheap!)

truths

1. TRUE, I have flown an airplane. For prom my junior year we were flown to dinner by my dates coworker. On the way back he let me fly the plane (side note: my sister-in-law was the other girl on the double date)

2. TRUE, I mowed my in-laws lawn. My parent's home has never had a lawn. We didn't have much in our yard besides dirt until I was 13. I did do plenty of raking and weed pulling.

3. TRUE, I wet my pants. In college I was in a performing group. One of the acts was The Cinderelli song. Four of us were dressed up as the mice, 2 males and 2 females. We each sat on a cube with a hole cut out of the top for our bum and wheels on the bottom so we could propel ourselves around the stage. Our stupid costumes were so big that frequently our dresses got caught under the wheels During a performance my partner and I both got stuck and laughed so hard we wet our pants. She emptied her bladder in her make shift toilet so much that the stage crew had to dump it out. I just had to change my undies.

4. FALSE, The truth comes out. Three weeks before she was born I went to the OB for a check-up. Each time I reminded my doctor that I didn't want to know the gender of the baby (per his request). At the end of that appointment he referred to my baby as a she. I said "she?" and he said "oh, you know, he, she, the baby." Well, I really wanted to believe he was referring to our "it" as a "she" just like a boat or a car is referred to as a "she," but I knew he slipped (he had just done an ultrasound). I burst out in tears as soon as I got into my car and I cried the whole way home. My ultimate surprise was ruined. I was really disappointed, but decided to keep it my little secret hoping it really was a mistake. It was still a surprise for everyone else. I didn't even tell my husband until 8 months later.

5. TRUE, I love surprises, obviously.

6. TRUE, I was on 15 high school teams. I did swimming and cross country at the same time. My junior year the swim team and the x-country team each won sections (I really had nothing to do with it, I just happened to be on the teams with an incredible athlete, my cousin).

tagged

I was tagged by my friend Katie to post 6 random things about myself. I've kind of done this before so I've added a twist to it. I'm doing FIVE truths and ONE lie. Can you guess what's not true?
1. I've flown an airplane
2. The first time I mowed a lawn was after I was married
3. I've wet my pants on stage
4. We didn't find out the sex of our babe until she was born
5. I love surprises
6. My Senior year of High School I only did 3 sports. The other 3 years I did 4 sports each school year.

I tag Marci, Jodi, Brittany, Steph, Carol, and Kimberly to do
5 truths and one fib (fib sounds so much better than lie).

dirty feet

Last week we had a play date at the park. Three of the fastest hours I've had in months. I think the girls had almost as much fun as the moms. She was filthy by the time we got home and I loved it. I'd do it everyday if I could.

teeth cleaning

A bit ago I took our babe to the dentist to have her teeth cleaned, well, to see if he could clean her teeth. She was fabulous. She just laid there, opened her mouth, and even giggled. We think one of the reasons she did so well was because she was use to the sounds and feel of the polisher. She has a Rotadent (a REALLY, REALLY, nice Crest spin brush, ask your dentist about it, it's like having your teeth cleaned everyday, seriously) and she loves to brush her teeth with it. Having her teeth polished by the dentist really wasn't any different. By the way, the dentist was a HOTTIE and a total flirt, don't tell my husband.
